The 1.6 update for Stardew Valley has been incredible so far. Players have had so much new content and are having a blast exploring the update. Today we dive deep into the new trinkets that have been added to the 1.6 update of Stardew Valley. We are going to learn the benefits of each trinket as well as how to find them. Let’s check them out!
What Are Trinkets?
Trinkets are equipable clothing items that give you a boost in combat. There are 8 in total and each of them will give you unique benefits. Some of them even give you companions that will follow you on your adventure. But you’ll only be able to get these once you master your combat in the Mastery Cave. Once that is unlocked you will be able to start finding them and there are a few ways in order to find these trinkets. Some can be purchased from vendors while others can be found by slaying monsters as well as in the Skull Cavern Treasure Rooms. Once you’ve mastered the combat with the Mastery system, you can equip your trinkets in the slot with a star next to your hat which is in your inventory. It’s important to note that you can only wear one trinket at a time. You can always keep all of them in your inventory and swap around when you need another one.
Stardew Valley 1.6 Trinkets
As we mentioned before, there are a total of 8 trinkets in update 1.6 of Stardew Valley. Let’s take a look at each of them:
Basilisk Paw
The first one of the 8 trinkets is the Basilisk Paw. This trinket over here will make you immune to debuffs. You can find this one just by slaying monsters. It does help with some of the debuffs. For example, if a slime hits you and you get the debuff which slows you down and poisons you a little bit, that will no longer happen after you get this trinket. This does not include self-inflicted debuffs, such as those caused by food. The basilisk paw cannot be reforged by using an Anvil.
Fairy Box
Next on our list is the Fairy Box. When equipped, this will summon a fairy companion that heals you when you are in combat. So, you’ll find this floating around you and heal you if you take some damage while in the middle of a combat. You can make use of an Anvil to reforge it and possibly improve its stats. You can make proper use of this trinket when you venture into the Skull Cavern.
Frog Egg
The frog egg is quite a powerful trinket in our opinion. When you add it to the trinket slot of your equipment, it will summon a hungry frog as your companion. The frog will actually swallow an enemy every now and then using its long tongue. Then, with its belly full, the frog will follow the player. When the frog reaches its regular size again, it will devour the next foe. The frog can’t consume another adversary for 12 seconds after it has finished one. You can use an Anvil to change the color of the frog. Here are the available colors:
- Green
- Blue-Green
- Brown
- Red
- Yellow
- Blue
- Prismatic, and
- Void
The Prismatic and Void are the rarer skins you can get for your frog companion. Do note that these are only cosmetic changes and do not affect the abilities of the frog in any way. Also remember that enemies killed by the frog will not drop anything, and do not count as kills towards quests or Monster Eradication Goals.
Golden Spur
Golden Spur is another trinket item that is dropped by enemies. Equipping the golden spur in your trinket slot causes your critical strikes to boost your speed. This speed boost can range anywhere from 5 to 10 seconds. Of course, you can use an Anvil to change that. The Golden Spur can be a deadly combo with Scout which increases your critical strike chance by 50%. So, you’ll end up getting more critical strikes and consequently, more speed boosts.
Ice Rod
The Ice Rod just might be the best trinket out of all of them. Every X seconds, the Ice Rod fires an ice ball that freezes any foes in its path for Y seconds. It can freeze multiple enemies in a row if they’re all lined up together. Anvil can be used to reforge it. The Ice Rod may become “Perfect” after reforging, in which case its name would become “Perfect Ice Rod”. This version pauses for four seconds after firing every three seconds. You can also get the perfect version through combat.
Magic Hair Gel
Well, this one really doesn’t do a lot. Much like the name suggests, all this trinket does is cause your hair to constantly change color. There’s no stat buff, nor does this give you any new ability during combat. That’s really all there is to it. It does look quite cool if you fancy what looks like an RGB hairdo.
Magic Quiver
This is a trinket item that’s dropped by monsters. The Magic Quiver is a trinket that shoots a magic arrow every X seconds, deals Y–Z damage to adjacent opponents. The enemy will likewise be pushed back by it. X can range from 1.1 to 2.1 seconds, with very rare instances of lower numbers being attained over many dozen rerolls. Y can range from 11 to 30. Z is always greater than Y by 5. XYZ is rerolled after reforging the quiver with an anvil. X is not dependent on Y or Z. To put it another way, you might produce the same amount of damage over a different amount of time. You can change this item’s name to Perfect, Fast, or Heavy after reforging.
- Perfect: Has stats of 0.9, 30-35 damage.
- Rapid: Offers faster rate of fire, ranging from 0.61 to 0.69, but low damage, ranging from 8-12 low and 13-17 high.
- Heavy: A slower rate of fire, ranging from 1.5 to 2.0, but high damage, between 35 and 40.
Parrot Egg
One of the trinkets that enemies drop is the Parrot Egg. A parrot will spawn in your trinket slot when you equip the parrot egg, and it will accompany you around. It occasionally finds gold coins when defeating enemies while in battle. Anvils can be used to reforge the egg, raising the parrot’s level from 1 to 4. The Parrot will drop you coins in multiples of 250. A single adversary can drop many coins. So, it goes without saying that the Parrot Egg will likely bring you insane amounts of Gold. Say goodbye to farming ancient fruits!
Remember that you can get multiples of each of the seven trinkets. You can sell each of those trinkets for a thousand gold.
Which Trinkets Can Be Forged?
Before we answer that, we need to know what an Anvil is. The player can reroll Trinkets’ stats with the Anvil. You can get its recipe by claiming Combat Mastery. It takes three Iridium Bars per usage.
Here are the trinkets that can be forged using an Anvil:
- Fairy Box
- Frog Egg
- Golden Spur
- Ice Rod
- Magic Quiver
- Parrot Egg
Our pick for the best trinket among the 8 is the Ice Rod. We found it to be super overpowered in combat. It buys you a lot of time as it freezes enemies for quite a while. Let us know which of the 8 trinkets is your favorite in update 1.6 of Stardew Valley.
