Want to start your Albion Online journey but don’t know where to start?

These instructions will help you learn the basics of the game, making sure you have a good start and putting you on the path to becoming a great player.

First Steps in Albion

Gain Fame

Once you’ve finished the training, your main goal is to get Fame, which is like experience points. You’ll be able to use more skills as you earn more gear.

You get Combat Fame by killing mobs. Open the Destiny board and click on the skill you’re working on to see how far you’ve come.

Expeditions and Dungeons

Go to the Expedition Master in the middle of any starting town and look for the big blue opening that glows. Expeditions make it easy to get to quick tasks and many battle Fame.

Find a random solo cave in the wild for a bigger challenge. You’ll get more cash and loot there than in an Expedition.

Tier 3 and 4 Gear

You’ll be able to use tier 3 or even tier 4 weapons and gear after finishing a few dungeons or adventures.

Additionally, you’ll have some cash to spend to equip yourself with new gear.

Journeyman Adventurer

Reaching Journeyman Adventurer lets you ride horses and carry animals. Head to the market to look for the tools or gear you need.

Gathering Resources and Crafting

Buy a bag and some tier 2 gathering tools from the store and head out into the nearby woods to collect materials. The five biomes in Albion have different resources

  • Forests: Wood
  • Mountains: Ore
  • Swamps: Fiber
  • Steppes: Hide animals
  • Highlands: Stone

Each biome also has two other types of resources, though in smaller quantities.

Resources can be turned into materials and used to make weapons and defense. However, unless you enjoy gathering and crafting, buy your gear from the marketplace and let other players do your hard work.

Joining a Guild

Joining a guild is an important step in your Albion Online journey. It provides friends, allies, and access to a guild island or Hideouts in the wilderness.

Use the Guild Finder to search for guilds based on language or specific details.

Equipping Tier 4 Gear and Locating Major Cities

Once you have tier 4 weapons and armor, use the global map to find the closest large city (Bridgewatch, Fort Sterling, Lymhurst, Martlock, or Thetford). Travel to the city to begin the next chapter of your quest.

PvP Combat and Survival Tips

Albion Online features player-versus-player (PvP) combat. The color of the zone on the world map or mini-map indicates the consequences of PvP combat. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Blue zones: You can’t be killed or looted.
  • Yellow zones: They allow for attacks but no killing or looting (just knocking down).
  • Red and black zones (PvP zones): You have the option of being killed and losing stuff, or killing enemies and taking all they have.

Keep in mind that you will never lose your hard-earned cash or gold if killed or knocked down.

Tips for surviving PvP situations

  1. Watch for aggressive players (red or orange nametags).
  2. Stay close to the mount for a speedy escape.
  3. Avoid having too much weight, it will slow you down.
  4. Choose powers (especially on boots) that allow for a quick escape.
  5. In red zones, check the mini-map for the number of unfriendly players and avoid big groups.
  6. Skulls on the mini-map suggest recent player deaths. Avoid these places if you want to stay out of trouble.
  7. If attacked, consider not fighting back to leave quickly.
  8. Lastly, always follow the golden rule: don’t travel into PvP zones with things you can’t afford to lose.

Establishing Yourself in a Major City

Settling in one of the five big towns is a good starting place. Here, you’ll have access to different material and opportunities:

  1. Enlist in your city’s group to fight against other royal cities and earn prizes.
  2. Fight in the arena or the crystal arena without risking item loss, or join the famous full-loot Crystal League.
  3. Learn a trade skill, polish raw materials, or make strong weapons and armor.
  4. Become a transport trader and move valuable things to more profitable locations.
  5. Buy a player island to build houses, farm food, and raise animals.
  6. Venture outside the city’s walls to face increasingly tough tunnels gather materials, or fish in the rivers, lakes, and seas.

With no classes in Albion Online, you can freely mix gear to find your ideal build.

Delve into ruined caves and Hellgates for a mix of PvE and PvP content, or explore the Mists and the lost city of Brecilien.

The Roads of Avalon and the huge region of the Outlands also await, giving the greatest risk and profit.
