What is the Abyssal Expedition of AFK Arena?

Abyssal Expedition is a timed event in AFK Arena that returns in patch 1.110 with a new theme, map, and boss.

Adventurers must travel throughout the vast world alongside guild members to combat difficult opponents and obtain rewards.

The Abyssal Expedition has returned, bringing fresh difficulties in the shape of a sea-dwelling boss with a thirst for souls and a treacherous trek across the ocean.

AFK Arena Introduces New Boss Clawlossus to Abyssal Expedition

The Abyssal Expedition in AFK Arena has introduced a new boss – Clawlossus. Once a regular hermit crab, Clawlossus’ body fused with shipwrecks as more and more vessels sank in the ocean. This led to the discovery of the taste of souls, and now he roams the Sunken Graveyard, waiting for more ships to fall into his trap.

As the new boss for the Abyssal Expedition, Clawlossus comes equipped with three deadly attacks:

Drowning Deluge: With this attack, Clawlossus summons a massive wave, dealing several rounds of damage to all enemies and knocking them back. This destroys enemies’ shields and stuns them. Each use of Drowning Deluge increases knockback distance and damage.

Spirit Snatcher: Clawlossus launches flames at enemies in the back, reducing their attack and defense until the end of the battle and dealing AOE damage. Enemies hit by this attack become Soulless, immobilizing them and dealing damage to their neighbors. This attack cannot stack or be dispelled.

Soul Devourer: After an enemy is knocked back or becomes Soulless, Clawlossus deals more damage and takes less damage for a few seconds. This effect cannot stack.

Ocean’s Pride

To counter the power of Clawlossus, each environment on the Abyssal Expedition’s map comes with its own effect that players can activate to gain useful buffs. These buffs help in fighting Clawlossus, and they include:

Surging Swamp: At the start of a battle to occupy a tile, increase allied heroes’ attack and defense. These bonuses decrease over time.

Tidal Freeze: Reduce damage taken when battling Clawlossus. Whenever Clawlossus uses Drowning Deluge, only the first round of damage will knock back allied heroes and destroy shields.

Flaming Savior: When battling Clawlossus, increase allied heroes’ damage and reduce Clawlossus’ Enraged bonuses. Each allied hero is immune to becoming Soulless several times per battle.
